How to understand your diamond

When it comes to a diamond, it is not just about the size. Its beauty and value are created by the balance of four things - cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. When you understand them, you know exactly what you are paying for.

Grinding

It is the way a diamond is cut that determines how much light reflects back to the eye. A well-cut stone sparkles even when small. The most common and versatile is the round brilliant – clear, symmetrical, timeless.

Cleanliness

Almost every natural diamond has tiny internal traces of its formation. The smaller and less visible they are, the clearer the stone. For everyday wear, SI clarity is ideal - a stone that is clean to the naked eye, with tiny traces revealed only under a magnifying glass.

Colour

White diamonds are graded by how close they come to being completely colorless. A G grade means a near-colorless stone - the eye cannot detect the difference from the most expensive "completely white" ones, but the price is much friendlier.

Weight

The size of a diamond is measured in carats (1 ct = 0.2 g). However, a larger stone is not automatically more beautiful - a well-cut smaller diamond with good clarity and color will shine more than a large but dull piece.
